When should you "lower your gaurd"

Or should you even lower it? When a woman (or a man) has been hurt in the past, it may be difficult for them to enter in the dating scene again. As much as they try not to hold a grude, or compare people's actions to those of the former person, subconciously we all do. We all look for a red flag that will comfirm that indeed that person is a fraud/liar/jerk/asshole. We become pessimist. But when shall we open our hearts to the new person in our lives?? How will you know it's right??

PROTEIN SHAKE

After dance practice, i came back to my apartment and did 3 sets of 10-15 reps of pushups, squats+shoulder raises with my dumbells, lunges+bicep curls, dumbell rows, tricep dips, and then I did the daily ab workout to "Hot Tottie".

I decided I would put my chobani one more time. I made a banana smoothie and put little kashi bits inside of it. The whole shingding came to 233 calories and a whopping 16 g of protein.

1/2 of Chobani low-fat yogurt- 70 calories
Medium sized banana - about 100 calories
1/3 Kashi Go Lean Crunch! - 63 calories
(i use measuring cups and do the math on my calculator so all these numbers are accurate)

But the yogurt in the blender, then put the bananas, then put 3 cubes of ice. BLEND THAT SUCKER. and ten viola! You have a very thick, creamy, protein smoothie that is very filling and high in protein. So all your muscles you just worked out are being healed.

RECIPES: EGG WHITE SPINACH SANDWICH

I ate this for breakfast this morning and it came to 295 calories, high in fiber and protein. And it took less than 10 minutes! Speedy college life
Ingredients:
1/3 cup of egg white subsitute (90 cals)
1/4 of frozen spinache (about 5 cals)
2 slices of wheat bread (i would usually use my 50 calorie slice bread for this type of sandwich BUT i ran out) (200 cals)
I can't believe it's not butter spray (0 calories)

Preparation:
You can microwave the frozen spinach in a bowl of water for 40 seconds. After you are done, dump the water and mix the egg white + spinach together. Put some black pepper seasoning. No salt.

Heat up the stove, spray the non-stick pan with the butter spray, pour contents onto the pan. Cook thoroughly. Flip.

Toast the bread. And then viola thats your sandwich! This is deff a filler and you will be good for your morning classes.

WANNA MAKE IT LESS CALORIC???
Buy the pre-cut wheat slices that are 100 calories each. They are thin but it fills you up the same. This will save you 100 calories.
Use 1/4 a cup instead of 1/3. This will save you 30 calories.
Drink water. This will not add calories to your breakfast.

You don't need to deprive yourself...

Tonight, I had a turkey burger thats pre-seasoned with spices (160 cals, 1g fiber, 18g of protein), 2 slices of wheat bread (100 cals each, 5g of fiber each... DA DAAAAMN! :-), 5 g of protein. so double everytthing). Then I had organic sweet baby lettuce on top of my burger (i never really count calories for lettuce because i know it's already low. Thats the weight watchers technique i picked up (which ill discuss later). I also put some lettuce as a side. To top it off i put some mustard (0 calories) on top and voila.

I cooked the burger on my George Foreman lean fat grilling machine and yes it is great. It sheds out all that fat and you actually see the grease dripping into the little container thingy. And then I had water.

In total I would say my dinner was 375 (i'm adding a little more for the lettuce but it might be lower)

-----------------
So the weight watcher point system is a great way to look at your weight loss. They combine i believe calories, fiber, and protein and make a point system (0-6). Veggies and Fruits have a point system of 0 which mean you can eat how much you want! They are the healthiest. High in fiber and low in calories.
So for example:
(I'm making up calories/fiber on this two products)
Would you rather eat Doritos (200 cals, 0 g of fiber) or Sun Chips (240 calories, 5 g of fiber) ? Sometimes it's not about the calories but more about fiber, protein etcs., The best choice would be Sun Chips. They would have the lower point value on a WW system.

So when you're counting calories, make sure you look everyyyything. Sodium, protein, carbs, etcs.,

WEIGHT LOSS: OCT/NOV [quick summary]

QUICK UPDATE: I LOST 18Lbs

WEIGHT LOSS: YOU NEED TO BE MENTALLY FOCUSED

Hey guys. I know I haven't posted in a long time because this semester has been insane. Plus, i don't really know who is reading this so I questioned whether or not I should even continue. BUT! People have been noticing my weight loss and keep asking me questions so here it goes...

"SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE"
You CANNOT i repeat CANNOT look at this like a "diet". Why? Because a diet in the context most americans use means a short-time period where one is restricting caloric intake, obsessing over calories, and then once they reach their goal, they discontinue the "diet". Or some people look at it as a way to fit into your prom dress that is 2 months away and you need to lose 50 pounds. Once prom is over, you pack on the pounds.

Look at it as a lifestyle change. This is something you're going to be doing for the rest of your life. Stop reading this for a second. What did you feel like when you read "it's a lifestyle change you're going to be doing this for the rest of your life". Did you have an "UGH REALLY" type feeling? If so that means you're not ready. You need to be mentally FOCUSED. People will not understand why you're changing your eating/exercise behaviors (ill save that for another post).

To me weight loss can be achieved by anyone. Don't pick a date to start. Start NOW. Change little things. Drink 2% milk. Eat wheat bread, wheat pasta. Fill your plate with half veggies. I'm telling you this will work!!

If you are not mentally focused remember it is not going to work. I changed the way I thought about everything and it has aided in me losing 18 lbs (so far and counnnnting).

STRING CHEESE or DIRI KOLE???

So today I wanted to eat my chinese food that I left in the refrigerator and I was reluctant to eat it. Why was I?? Because I'm a Haitian girl and I love my FOOD, but my surroundings don't eat the same food as i do. I was going to go into more detail but I rather respect people's privacy.

Which comes to my blog today. What is a healthy body? If you want to get technical, a healthy BMI (Body Mass Index) shouldn't be over 24.9 (cdc.gov/healthyweight/assessing/bmi/) . If you're over 25 you're considered overweight. If you're over 29.0 you're considered OBESE. So who determines a healthy body? Is it height/weight?? I'm 5'5" and they say I should be between 145-160. I'll tell you guys right now, when I was 150 I looked like a skeleton. So what determines a healthy body? Is it clothing size?? Over the decades, the industry has changed sizes. So what a size 6 is now wasn't a size 6 15 years ago...

Growing up, i've always been slightly more "thicker" than most girls. I have a pear shaped body so the weight distributes to my lower half more than top. So my thighs have always been big, my butt has always been big, and my hips have always been big. This is just my genetics. My waist is 28" and my hips are 44"!! Yeah ridiculous but this is what i've been born with and I have come to terms with it and accepted it!

I understand the culture I was raised in and afrocentric beauty. You can't really define what is beautiful in today's world. Everyone is different. Everyone comes in all different shapes and sizes. So, I microwaved my chinese food and ate it and smiled. And realized that even though I'm not in my usual environment, I can't allow other people's eating habits change the way I eat. So if you're reading this, what I want you to take out of this is that you are beautiful and don't let any situation determine or define who you are!

I've Always Been Told...

That my views on life are very different from others. Some people that know me personally and hear what I say, or see my actions may agree. Others that don't know me, may just think I'm some regular 21 year old girl. Well I'm not. I believe everyone has a voice. I believe everyone has a purpose. Although in our world with 6 billion people, it would be VERY hard for someone to listen to every single person. So that's why I decided to do this blog.

This blog isn't intended for anyone under 18. The things I'm going to discuss are for adults only. People that have passed their adolescent years who are transitioning into adulthood. I DO NOT want to influence any minors with the way I think SOOOOO *DISCLAIMER* if you're under 18 then please click that red x (or red circle for u macheads)

Like I was saying, this blog is going to touch on topics from : Sexuality, Society, Gender Issues, Relationships, from MYYYY point of view. No where am I an expert on these things. I'm going to share my personal experiences, well some. I think outside the box now on some of these topics because i've been restricted into thinking one way.  These past experiences that I have endured have pretty much shaped me into the way I'm currently thinking.

WELCOME TO MY BLOGGG! :-)
